| The Roy W. Dean Foundation has announced its selection of finalist's for the 2003 R.W.D. Writers Grant. A proposal for a feature length screenplay entitled "Amature Night" was submitted by Britt Penrod and has made it to the final round of the competition along with four other submissions.
The winner receives a trip to New Zealand in March, 2004 for a cottage stay on the Wye river as a writers sabbatical with food, automobile, PC, internet, and spending money all supplied by the Roy W. Dean Foundation.
The foundation's first and foremost mission is to aid filmmakers in creating bodies of work that attempt to benefit society. An overwhelming majority of previous winners have been documentary films and filmmakers. This would be the first narrative feature script selected for the grand prize if awarded to Britt. "Advancing to the finals of the Roy W. Dean Writer's Grant is a prestigious validation for any script. It is a "right of passage" to the next step toward completion and I am honored to receive this extraordinary opportunity."
The foundation was started by Carole E. Dean who also founded Studio Film and Tape, a seminar series speaker and author of "The Art Of Funding Your Film". Carole is currently in New Zealand writing her next book after a year of speaking engagements around the country.
