Roy W. Dean Foundation announces grant finalist's:
The Roy W. Dean Foundation has announced its selection of finalist's for the 2003 R.W.D. Writers Grant. A proposal for a feature length screenplay entitled "Amature Night" was submitted by Britt Penrod and has made it to the final round of the competition along with four other submissions.

The winner receives a trip to New Zealand in March, 2004 for a cottage stay on the Wye river as a writers sabbatical with food, automobile, PC, internet, and spending money all supplied by the Roy W. Dean Foundation.

The foundation's first and foremost mission is to aid filmmakers in creating bodies of work that attempt to benefit society. An overwhelming majority of previous winners have been documentary films and filmmakers. This would be the first narrative feature script selected for the grand prize if awarded to Britt. "Advancing to the finals of the Roy W. Dean Writer's Grant is a prestigious validation for any script. It is a "right of passage" to the next step toward completion and I am honored to receive this extraordinary opportunity."

The foundation was started by Carole E. Dean who also founded Studio Film and Tape, a seminar series speaker and author of "The Art Of Funding Your Film". Carole is currently in New Zealand writing her next book after a year of speaking engagements around the country.

Another Short Film In Pre Production:
"You Choose", a recently completed short-film script written by Britt Penrod, is in the early stages of preproduction thanks in large part to the efforts of Lisa Smirnova, a former environmental energy analyst from eastern Europe.

Lisa has taken on the task of research and acquisition of production funds from potential investors for a project that focuses on the worst case scenarios of global dependence on limited natural resources. (Another Film Short cont.) The project will be shot on 35mm and is intended to have a strong international appeal not only by story content, but also with the aid of seven principle characters representing six different cultures and languages, including English.

Once Again: "The Band"
"The Band", a 16mm short is being pulled off the shelf once again in hopes of finding a story amidst a mound of footage.

Written and directed by Britt Penrod, the film was shot over the course of two plus years at Warner Brother's Studios in Burbank CA and on locations throughout the San Fernando Valley. "The Band" was Britt's first film and has been through several cuts and nearly as many editors. This attempt will mark the fifth editing system and third editor...Britt. The film starred Al Nowicki with Shona Raye in the leading female role...as of the last edit.
